The desk writes itself into your fascia.

Hours at a screen leave a signature: forward head, guarded shoulders, a low back that files complaints by late afternoon. The ink it is written in is fascia, the connective tissue wrapping every muscle.

Myofascial release works that tissue directly with slow, sustained pressure, giving restrictions time to soften rather than forcing them. Range of motion returns, knots let go, and circulation reaches what sitting had been rationing.

The research is respectable and plainly spoken. A 2023 systematic review in BMC Musculoskeletal Disorders found these techniques improve pain, mobility, and quality of life without side effects, and other work shows meaningful relief for tension-type headaches born from trigger points.

Between sessions, the homework is modest: move every hour, and let a foam roller or a firm ball visit the upper back and hips.

Here, the work is woven into a session shaped by the conversation over chai, aimed at where your desk actually lives in you.
